Waterfowl spotted in Dog Beach estuary in March 2020

These dabbling ducks and shorebirds were seen in the mudflats near the outflow of the San Diego River. This is a tidal mud flat area that spills into Dog Beach in Ocean Beach, CA.

Many of these birds are only here for the winter.
